www.BrettSchaffner.com The place to be.
Hello and welcome to my site! My name is Brett Schaffner and I am currently a Junior at the University of Nevada, Reno where I am pursuing a degree in Information Systems and International Business. On top of my two majors, I am also dual-minoring in Accounting and Spanish. I am quite involved on campus, as I am the current President of UNR's Entrepreneurship Club (eClub). This is an AMAZING club that works closely with the local entrepreneurs in and around the Reno area to gain an insight into what all is involved in becoming and entrepreneur. The eClub is also very involved in pairing students with the local entrepreneurs through internships so that our members get real-life experience because there's only so much that you can learn from a book. Another area the eClub is growing in popularity is with its help and training for the Governor's Cup, which is a state-wide Business Plan Writing Competition (website).
Outside of my life at UNR, I am an avid traveler. I LOVE to travel. As of now, I have been to Mexico, Peru, Spain, France, and Italy (with a couple of layovers in Germany), and I'm nowhere close to done! With my love of travel, I have begun an internship with EF College Break, which is a travel company that offers discount travel to college-aged kids (18-26 years old). It is through EF Tours that I went to Peru with on a high school trip, and it wasn't a full day after I returned when I was online looking where I wanted to go next. After arriving back states-side from my EF College Break trip to Europe this past summer I couldn't wait to find out how to get involved with such a great company. I currently hold the position of Campus Manager for the University of Nevada, Reno. You can read more about my travels, see pictures, and learn more about EF College Break by visiting my Travel page.
During the summers, when I'm not abroad, I have held down the position of Information Technology Intern with Newmont Mining Corporation. I first began my internship in the summer of 2010, as a wee Freshman, knowing very little about anything technological, but have since begun to understand the very important role that IT has in a corporate setting. My internship has taught me some very important skills, such as the disciplines of IT in a business, including Service Delivery, Applications Support, and Project Management.

Look at this random picture here... yep, I'm trying to distract you until I get this site re-designed!
